FOOD
IS THE OLDEST MEDICINE Dietary factors play a key role
in the development of various human diseases, including cardiovascular disease.
Epidemiological studies have shown that diets rich in fruits, herbs and
spices are associated with a low risk of cardiovascular disease. The key building blocks of
physical health are less than 50 essential nutrients -- 13 vitamins, 22
or 23 minerals, 8, 10, or 11 essential amino acids, and 2 essential fatty acids.
These are substances the human body cannot make, cannot live or be healthy
without, and must obtain from foods or from food supplements. The
entire human body is made from food, water and air. It follows from this fact
that the quality of our health is determined largely by what we eat, drink and
breathe. Hippocrates
(500 B.C.E.) “The
doctor of the future . . . . will instruct his patient in the care of the body .
. . through the proper use of foods." Edison
(early 19th century)

Formula™ AND HISTORICAL USE OF
THE INGREDIENTS The
use of medicinal plants to
help maintain good health is
older than recorded history. Many
of the herbs we use today (such as garlic and bilberry) were recommended by
physicians, and used by common people thousands of years ago for many of the
same health problems that we use them for today.
The use of medicinal herbs is also mentioned in most spiritual works
throughout the world; the Bible is one example.
According to the Old Testament, one of the chief complaints of the
children of Israel on their long journey was that they had no garlic with them. When
the children of Israel were lost, hungry, and wandering in the wilderness of
Sinai, they had garlic and other herbs on their mind. "We remember the
fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks,
the onions, and the garlic," they cried unto Moses in Numbers 11:5,6. One of the first recorded heart
formulas was made by the first century
Greek pharmacist, Dioscorides, who prescribed garlic preparations to clean the
arteries long before the scientific understanding of circulation was
established. Today,
a growing body of scientific evidence is validating the rich history of
botanical medicine by demonstrating many benefits to human health offered by the
plants. |
